About Gladys Tamez Millinery
Artfully blending luxurious materials with repurposed and recycled fabrics, Tamez masterfully creates pieces that are both couture and sensible, with meticulous details and innovative blocking techniques. Tamez draws design inspiration from a vast array of influences including vintage fashion, street style, classic western wear, contemporary art and Rock and Roll. A fashion enthusiast from an early age, Tamez was raised in Monterrey, Mexico where she was immersed in culture and surrounded by beauty. Her mother, who continues to influence Tamez’s work, was a Lancome model in the 1960’s introducing her daughter to glamour and style. As her family was prominent in the Bullfighting community, Tamez frequently attended matches, soaking in the elaborate costumes and flamboyant pageantry.
