My boyfriend purchased a pair of UGG boots and a pair of UGG slippers in December for an Xmas present, asking for both in a size 8. When I opened the presents on Xmas morning I realised he'd been given a UK 8 in the boots, but a US 8 in the slippers (a UK 6).

When trying to return the slippers for an exchange I was told they didn't stock the slippers in a size 8. The assistant said he remembered serving my boyfriend, and confirmed he'd asked for both in a size 8, but refused to offer a refund on the slippers as "they didn't give refunds". I explained that it was their error - they'd given my boyfriend the wrong size - which he acknowledged was true, but still refused to offer a refund.

I asked for a head office contact and was given the name of the retail director - Shane Ackroyd.

Shane was equally unhelpful - saying that "...although he wasn't disputing my claims, he refused to accept my boyfriend had been mis-sold and would not authorise a refund." The best they could offer was to call me in about a week to let me know whether they could source a pair of the slippers in a size 8.

I got the distince impression Shane had no interest in resolving my issue, and the likelihood of getting a pair of slippers in a size 8 was very unlikely.

Aspecto do not stock any brands that cannot be bought at any number of the big departments stores, all of whom offer excellent customer service and have fair and reasonable refund policies. I would not shop in Aspecto again, and would strongly advise against it to anyone else.

My son purchased a pair of jeans from their Nottingham shop out of money he received for his 16th birthday but after a couple of weeks a loop of stitching had started to come away on the back of the jeans. My wife took them back to the Nottingham shop but they decided that the damage was not down to the manufacturers and refused to exchange them for a new pair. After my wife contacting one of the directors in Manchester he said he would take a look at the jeans. The jeans were then sent to the Sheffield shop for inspection.
Two weeks later I phoned the shop in Sheffield to ask what was happening with the jeans and the shop manager said the director still had not had time to come to Sheffield to inspect them. He said that he would get him to give us a call as soon as he had finished his meeting at the head office in Manchester. Six hours later I phoned the shop again and the manager said that the director had just spoken to him on the phone and had just left his meeting. He said he would phone him back to ask if he would call me back now. When he did decide to call me back, I told him under the sales of goods act that the jeans should be inspected within a reasonable time and not when he felt like he could be bothered too. He said that he had inspected the jeans that morning (was a lie or his manager doesn’t know when his director visits the store) and that he was convinced that the damage to the stitching was not the fault of the manufacturers. He offered to get the jeans repaired but knowing my rights under sales of goods act I refused his offer. We are now letting trading standards sort these cowboys out. I would advise anyone buying from ASPECTO to be very careful with anything you buy from them. As far as they are concerned the sales of goods act does not apply to them. In hindsight I wish my son would have gone elsewhere to spend his birthday money, even if it would have cost him a little more for the same jeans. Saying the jeans are not a manufacturers fault is not good enough under the law, they have to prove it by going to an independent examiner and sending the results of their findings to the customer. Hope this information helps someone else not to get ripped off by ASPECTO and their cowboy ways of doing business.
